PLA denies amphibious assault ship targeted at any third party

China's People's Liberation Army (PLA) has made it clear that its development of military capabilities, including amphibious assault ships, is for self defense purposes and not targeted at any third party.

Defensive nature of China's military construction
   China pursues a national defense policy that is defensive in nature. China develops its military forces to safeguard national sovereignty, security, territorial integrity, and legitimate rights and interests at sea.
   Amphibious assault ships play important roles in safeguarding China's maritime rights and interests in areas such as coastal defense, island protection, and maritime security operations within China's own territory.
Contribution to regional and world peace
   China is committed to promoting international cooperation, peacekeeping, and disaster relief. These military platforms can also be used for non combatant evacuation operations and international humanitarian assistance, which is conducive to regional and global stability.
